Aims of the School
At Aylestone we aim to do three things:
Achievement
We will do everything in our power to ensure that every child leaves school with the best possible set of examination results. We do not apologise for having this as our first aim. Whether we like it or not, academic success will have a major impact on the quality of your child’s life when they become an adult.
Personal Development
We are good at examination success, but Aylestone is much more than an exam factory! As a large school in Herefordshire we have a major contribution to make in terms of the county’s future. We aim to do all we can to have a positive impact on how your child grows up. We reinforce the difference between right and wrong, develop tolerance and understanding, believe in the right to hear and be heard. We know that respect for each other is vital in a large community and, rather than merely demand it, we actively develop it.
Learning to Learn
If our children leave school without a belief in themselves as learners, then we have failed them. They face an uncertain future and in order to cope with that uncertainty they need to develop skills that will enable them to continue learning.
An adult with belief in her or himself as a learner can tackle anything!
